As Trincomalee district (Sri Lanka, East coast) slowly emerges from under the shadow of the brutal civil war and  its general hospital slowly starts meet the needs of the impoverished but resilient population. Still considered a “peripheral” hospital, it has only two attending surgeons running a surgical department that serves a population of over half a million people. The United Aid Foundation and Bridge2Peace put together a surgical mission to provide support to the local medical team, sharing knowledge and high-level of expertise.
